Cork-based LED lighting company Nualight has won the overall judges award at the Cleantech Connect Awards in London.

Elsewhere, the prize for one to watch went to Nexeon; Solarlite was named the fastest growing company; PowerWind was judged the fastest growing larger company; AMEE took the award for unique leadership; PowerSense was deemed the company with the best global potential; and Nujira was named most innovative company.

"We're very proud to have received this award which recognizes Nualight's rise to become the market leader in LED lighting for food retail,” said Dr Liam Kelly, Nualight's CEO. “Innovation, ambition and focus have driven our success in this market and this award is a tribute to the calibre and commitment of Nualight's people, and to our global customers who have adopted Nualight lighting solutions."

Organised by investment banking firm GP Bullhound, the competition features the fastest growing cleantech companies in Europe from a range of sectors, including energy efficiency, solar, smart grid, water and transportation.

Nualight was selected from the top 30 companies to present to the judging panel alongside nine other short-listed high-growth European cleantech companies in the Smith Centre, London. According to the organisers, the judges award is given to "the overall favourite, a leading contender in all categories. This company has already proven itself and is making a real impact on a global scale”.
