Accenture has launched the FinTech Innovation Lab Dublin, a programme that aims to accelerate technology innovation in the financial services industry and bolster economic and employment growth in Ireland.

Supported by Enterprise Ireland, the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation together with leading technology and financial services firms, it is open to entrepreneurs from Ireland who are developing cutting-edge technologies for the financial services sector.

It will mean that six early-stage companies will get the opportunity to develop their product or proposition under the mentorship of senior executives from leading players in the financial services and technology industries, including AIB, Fexco and Google.

The programme culminates in a day of pitches from the entrepreneurs in Dublin and London to an audience of venture capitalists and financial industry executives.

Dublin’s first commissioner for start-ups Niamh Bushnell said: “When I took up the role last month I commented on the need to create more excitement and energy around Dublin’s start-up scene. The FinTech Innovation Lab is exactly the kind of initiative I had in mind, and it’s fantastic to see one of the country’s leading multinationals creating a forum to bring together entrepreneurs, private industry and government. It’s only through this type of joint approach that we will be able to create a reputation for Dublin as a great start-up city.”
