Category winners of Electric Ireland Spark of Genius Competition announced

The four category winners have been announced in the Electric Ireland Spark of Genius Competition taking place as part of the Web Summit.

Tjobs SA, Movable Ink, Ovelin  and Social Fortress were presented with trophies on the main stage at 9am as recognition for being the leaders in their respective categories – Mobile, Social, Consumer and Enterprise.

The category winners will now compete in the semi-finals presenting to the judges, led by Chief Judge Jawed Karim co-founder of YouTube, and leading international investors (Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, Atomico, Accel and many others). The overall Electric Ireland Spark of Genius Winner will be announced at 4.30 today and awarded for a cash prize fund of €100,000.

Tjobs S.A. uses technology to make recruitment processes more efficient by incorporating an online recruitment portal with a wide network of recruitment agencies; US-based Moveable Ink allows marketers to make emails as dynamic as webpages; Ovelin changes the way that people learn their musical instruments with first product WildChords – for playing guitar on the iPad; and Social Fortress enables enterprises to leverage cloud and mobile technologies by redefining the data and access control landscape while reducing end-user friction.

Web Summit Founder Paddy Cosgrave said: “The Spark of Genius competition is an opportunity for startups to pitch directly to a panel of startup experts, industry heavyweights and international investors as well as media. I would like to congratulate each category winner for setting themselves apart from an initial 1,000 applications and for delivering excellence in their respective categories”.
