German retail sales fell by 0.9pc during June compared to the previous month, missing expectations, official figures released today have shown.
This was compared to their biggest monthly jump in two years of 3pc posted in May.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had forecast a decline in retail sales during June of 0.2pc.
According to the country’s statistical arm Destatis, retail sales on an annual basis rose by 3.1pc during June compared with June 2009.
The German retail sales figures are only provisional estimates, and could yet be revised up or down.
