TV3’s Red Rock advertising campaign begins

TV3 is launching a brand new commercial for its upcoming new soap Red Rock this weekend.

Airing in the ad break of Coronation Street on Friday night, the 90-second ad, produced by Ian Power, is the first sign of what viewers can expect to see from the new soap in January.

Red Rock will also be supported by a major outdoor campaign, as well as tactical activity across print, radio and social media.

“We’re delighted to launch the second in a series of TV commercials for TV3. TV builds big brands, so what better medium than our own as the primary platform to launch Ireland’s newest soap,” said Deirdre Macklin, TV3 Group marketing director.

“Red Rock is brimming with dramatic storylines and intriguing characters so through exceptional writing from Ogilvy and direction from Ian Power this commercial really delivers a sense of what’s to come. With 14 other brand new shows launching alongside Red Rock in January, it’s shaping up to be an amazing new year for TV3.”

Ogilvy & Mather was tasked with the creative direction of the ad and turned to Power to bring their creative to life.

“TV3’s commercial for Red Rock is the kind of ad script you come across once in a blue moon. The writers in Ogilvy & Mather basically recognised the power of the drama itself and plugged into the visceral storylines Peter McKenna and his writing team have put together for the show,” he said.

“The energy was clear from the outset and that called for something extra-ordinary in terms of my approach. To the credit of TV3 and Ogilvy, they championed the idea of an uninterrupted 90-second take from the start.”
