Walsh Public Relations (WPR) has announced a number of changes to its management and client support service, including the appointment of Caroline Heywood to the position of joint managing director.

Heywood, who will be responsible for client service quality, HR and marketing, joins the firm’s founder, Jim Walsh, at the helm. 

She has over 20 years’ communications consulting experience in all areas of public relations including consumer awareness, public information and stakeholder engagement.  She is currently honorary treasurer of the Public Relations Consultants Association Ireland and is Walsh Public Relations’ representative with IPREX, the global network of over 70 independent PR consultancies.

The company has also revealed new strategic alliances with Krishna De, online and digital specialist, and Louise Shortall, integrated marketing consultant.

Following a global career with Diageo, De has worked across multiple sectors including FMCG, technology, professional services, financial services, education and non-profits.

Shortall has over 17 years’ strategic and operational brand management experience, gained in multinationals and SMEs. She has expertise in brand strategy development, brand communications and commercial understanding.

Elsewhere, Vivienne Gleeson has been appointed client manager. Gleeson, who joined Walsh PR in 2009, previously worked in DHR Communications and is a graduate of the Fitzwilliam Institute.  The company has also taken on a new client executive, Natalia McCarthy.

“These changes are designed to allow us provide an enhanced level of service to existing and new clients,” said Walsh. “They will bring a fresh impetus to our client service and offer a business model that provides our clients with a unique mixture of young talent and established consultancy experience in specific business sectors.”

 “The inclusion of seasoned professionals with specific communication skills to our core team has been a positive experience for us,” said Heywood.  “Tara Mulvany, a former press officer with the Irish Farmers Association and corporate communications manager with Nestl, has been part of our team for the past two years. The success of that partnership has led to the expansion of the business model to embrace digital, online and integrated marketing.”
