Irish consultancy Byrne Looby Partners (BLP) announced today that it has won three commissions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, worth €750,000 in professional fees between them.
The Dublin-headquartered specialist design and project management consultancy made the announcement during this week’s Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, led by Minister for Trade and Development, Jan O’Sullivan.
The clients on the projects are Al Fatah Water and Bakri Energy, a top tier Saudi trading company specialising in international shipping, port facilities, energy, water and power. Byrne Looby is acting as overall design consulting engineer responsible for the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing), civil and instrumentation and control design elements on a Jubail desalination plant, Jubail industrial port bulk storage tank farm and Makkah gas turbine power station.
BLP is also acting as technical advisor on aspects of a new 30,000 sq m 16-storey headquarters building for Al Bakri.
“We have been trading in Saudi Arabia for over three years and the awarding of these projects marks the significant scaling of BLP’s alliance with the Al Bakri family and also their MEP, instrumentation and control business unit in the water and petrochem sector in the Kingdom,” said Michael Looby, cirector, BLP. “With the support of Enterprise Ireland we have consistently built our business in the region and we will continue to deepen our presence in the Middle East market.”
The Minister said BLP’s success in winning the contracts “confirms once again that Irish companies have established a very strong reputation in Saudi Arabia for the highest standards of excellence in innovation, quality and service”. She also noted that the Gulf region is a key growth market for Irish exports and for companies across a wide range of sectors.
